Lights Out

We finally found some lights for the lanterns. Actually they were LED lights for quick lighting, probably night lights of sorts.

It comes out quite well, you think? Those extra shapes, the width and thickness of the pumpkins actually combine to add depth to the carving. How kewl ...

Here's how our carvings look on a dark night from the front doorstep. Nice!

Carving Time

Our first ever pumpkin carving session. As a newbie, best to start off with a carving kit, lots of working space, and shopping for the perfectly shaped pumpkin.

Trace on the pattern. Do not stab the pumpkin!

Once you've taken-off the top and the mush inside, trace the pattern. Here's "Drac" looking groovy and waiting to come to life.

To each his or her own pumpkin design. This is hard to do, imagine what sculptors have to go through!

Finished product. Ta-daaah!

Mobile Peace

Mig's been doing projects in school. This is a nice mobile of the Philippines and USA with a hippie peace sign.

Deep Fried

It all started with some oil, pork, and staying online instead of right next to the stove. Before we knew it, the flames had started and I was running outside with a smoking pot and flames licking my fingers.

I tried throwing some dirt on it, but all that did was all the more fan the oily flames!

This is what it was after taking off the old skin covering which had melted (the world probably is sloughed-off). But I get ahead of myself, we did call 911 and they came and poured some dextrose which ohhh wonderful to feel rather than the burning and painful sensation. Crisp!

That also means I got a prescription and license to be "House" of Vicondin and 600mg of Ibuprofen. Woozy ....

A week of healing later. The bloody spots are good, that means its now a wound instead of a 2nd/3rd degree burn! The whitish/yellowish patches are spots that are further burned as to the rest while I was holding the pot. In a few days it was bleeding a lot less and I was putting some silver compund cream (SSD) to avoid infection. It also helped dry out the wound.

Another week and its healing beautifully. The plastic surgeon's are happy about it and so am I of course. This time I've been switched over to antibiotic ointment. They say its going to take a whole year for the pigment to go back, but as you can see my color's returning already -- nice.

So now you know one of the reasons I've not been online lately :-)
